The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, has already cancelled the class 10th board examination and already postponed the 12th class examination which was scheduled to be held from 4 May to June 14. But in wake of the current situation created by the Pandemic the students have started a new campaign on twitter “#cancel12thboardexams2021”. Over 1 Million students have already tweeted in support of the campaign to cancel the class 12th board examination.

Following the cancellation of class 10th board examination and postponement of class 12th board examination many other states too have cancelled and postponed the state board exams following the decisions of the CBSE. The Education Minister said they will review the situation on 1st June and accordingly they will decide but he ensured that the students will be given 15 days prior notice for the dates of examination if it would not be cancelled. But the government has been pressurised from all quarters including, students, teachers and parents, and politicians that considering the situation of Pandemic and the level of stress on the students the government must cancel the class 12th board examination just like CBSE did for class 10th. And they should look for other alternatives to assess the students.

After 10th school can promote the students to class 11th but there is no class after 12th where students can be promoted so marking & assessment of the students for class 12 would be a tough decision for the CBSE and the Ministry of Education in India. Delhi Govt and other states too have cancelled the exams for class 9th and 11th and the students are promoted to the next class by adopting alternate methods of assessment. Now it is a question of class 12th only and the govt will announce soon its strategy whether they will be promoting the students by adopting alternate methods for assessment without conducting examination or the students have to undergo the examination 2021 during this tough times of Pandemic.
