UGC News Update 2023 : Recently on August 2nd, 2023 UGC released a Public Notice. In the Notice UGC mentioned that a number of Institutions are offering degrees in contrary to the provisions of the UGC Act. Degrees awarded by such universities/institutions shall neither be recognized nor valid for higher education and employment purposes. The University Grants Commission (UGC) requests the public to check all the information of the university/institution on the official website of UGC www.ugc.gov.in before taking admission.

Further, it has also been conveyed that if any university/institution is offering academic programs in contravention of the UGC Act, the same may also be brought to the notice of UGC via ugcampc@gmail.com so that appropriate action can be taken against such institutions.



The notice was issued on August 1st, 2023 and it was published on UGC official website on August 2nd, 2023. In the list of Fake Universities there are a total 20 universities/institutions from 8 states. The names of these states are Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Out of these 8 states Delhi has maximum no. of Fake universities/institutions.
