The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, has launched a new app for the psychological counselling of the students and parents “CBSE Dost for Life” who are undergoing any kind of exam stress, anxiety or depression due to the situation created by the Pandemic. “Dost for Life” is a free app and it is available to be downloaded through ‘Play Store’. This app is designed from the perspectives of both the Parents and the students. Students can log in through student’s login id and parents can log in through parent’s login id.
The app is launched for the students of class 9 to 12. The psychological experts and counsellors will provide free live counselling sessions to the students and parents in two different time slots. From 9:30 am to 1.30 pm then 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Students and parents who are facing any kind of exam stress or anxiety can attend the live sessions from any of the above two time slots as per their convenience. They can also connect through a chat box facility which is available in the app. Besides the psychological counselling the students and parents can also ask about the career prospects of the students after 12th class.
CBSE has designed the app after acknowledging that lots of students are undergoing exam stress and anxiety due to the current pandemic situation. CBSE has already cancelled the class 10th board examination and postponed the board exams for class 12th students. The result of the class 10 students will be decided by the new assessment policy adopted by the CBSE.
The students can attend the counselling sessions from May 10th onwards and this app is designed for all the schools which are affiliated to the CBSE throughout the world. The sessions will be conducted on the well-being of the students, their mental health, Pandemic related issues and the interesting part is that the app also has Rap songs that might work as a music therapy for the students. The online sessions will be conducted thrice a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 83 people have volunteered for the sessions in which 66 are Indians and 17 are from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Nepal, Oman, Kuwait, Japan and USA.
