IIT Goa is receiving accolades from all sections of the society on ‘twitter’ from students, teachers and professors for its new innovative attempt of evaluating students by conducting new style of examination amidst the Pandemic.

The IIT Goa has set a new style of question paper in which the students were asked to frame the questions and answer them as well. The question paper is based on the lectures and the materials provided to the students during the entire semester.

As per the screenshot of the question paper that went viral on twitter, the question paper has two parts one is framing the question paper and second is to answer that question. It is a 70 marks question paper in total that has to be completed within 180 minutes i.e., 3 hours. The first part of the question paper i.e., framing of the question carries 30 marks and its counterpart i.e., the answer carries 40 marks.

Students have been advised “to avoid discussion with their friends as it will reduce the score if the similarities have been found”. This new methodology seems to be a new technique and pedagogy to test the knowledge and the skills of the students that they have learned in their entire semester. “It is First-of-its- kind in the examination system. In asking students to prepare questions of their choice and to answer it” tweeted by a twitter user Prof. Obaiah.

As per the tweet of the News Bytes IIT Goa Director has said “As Director of IIT-Goa, I do not interfere with my faculty members’ academic freedom. I found it novel at the time when students are struggling, we need new ways of evaluating them in an online teaching-learning scenario”.

It is further reported that the experiment has been forwarded to the pedagogy committee to review the outcome of the experiment.
