In a recent update it is reported that the University of Delhi might cancel the examination this year and look for some other alternative to evaluate the students. Delhi is the worst affected state in the second wave of pandemic that hit the capital just a week back.

Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has written a letter to the acting Vice Chancellor Mr P C Joshi requesting him to cancel the examination this academic year and evaluate the students by other alternatives.

DUTA has also requested to cancel the classes as well since the attendance of the number of students has dropped significantly because many students, teachers, staff and their family members are fighting with the current situation created by the spread of the second wave throughout the capital. The students, teachers, staff and Karamchari of the Delhi University are unable to cope with the current situation as the pandemic has affected the life of every individual. So, keeping in mind the current situation DUTA has requested to cancel the classes and examination this year.

The letter also states that the students, teachers and staff are going through the state of trauma so the university must take all the necessary measures to alleviate the stress and trauma from the lives of the people.

Along with the DUTA the Heads of many Departments have already requested the University to defer the semester examination keeping in view the current situation in Delhi.  It is also stated that the University must take a sensitive view of the situation as the teachers and students are not in a condition either to write exams or to conduct it.

Hence, in a nutshell, the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has requested the acting Vice-Chancellor to cancel the classes and examination in view of the current situation the teachers and students are going through in Delhi. Delhi is the state which is worst affected by the second wave of pandemic that hit the capital just a week back.

Besides the classes and examination, it has also been requested from the university to extend the last date for submission of internal assessment. It is expected that the exams and classes might be cancelled or deferred for some time, but no final decision has come out so far. The decision of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Delhi is still awaited.
